It takes many Interns and many willing hands to build one Earthship, let alone two. In the foreground is the main 3 Bedroom House, while in the background is a Studio Size Earthship.

A Thermal Wrap of double insulation goes up around the back tire wall of an Earthship at the same rate as the tires are pounded. It’s important to get a tight fit for a good Moisture Barrier against the back Berm. It gets tricky fitting the insulation around the Cooling Tubes running out the backside of the Earthship.

Being an intern means getting used to shoveling a lot of dirt…

Michael Reynolds is always ready to give interns instruction, as well as overseeing all the details.

Tarping the entire build site, both Earthships, is a nightly event for the amount of rain we’re currently getting. Now if only WE could stay dry…

Thanks for the photos. My husband is working as an intern on this project so it is nice to get a glimpse of how it’s going. Looks great so far! Keep up the great work and hope the rain isn’t too much for everyone! Wishing I could be there to help out!

My daughter is working on this too. Great to get a glimpse of what she is doing. Her name is Jennifer. Hopefully the weather is turning nice now. :) )

Yes, Jenn and I are sharing my 28 x 20 foot tarp. She woke up the first day in a swimming pool floating on her air mattress. So Bill and Tyler from Winnipeg, got us set up for the rain. Check out the post on ‘Setting up Camp’ and you’ll see the tip of Jenn’s tent behind mine. Cheers, and I hope you enjoy the rest of the posts!
