The dock is always a flurry of activity.

These people are skilled, work fast and efficiently.

Insulation is awful stuff to work with, especially overhead in the ceiling of the main house Earthship Greenhouse hallway.

Stuffing it in tight places is no fun either…I myself learned how itchy those little Fibre Glass slivers can be, and even cold showers don’t remove them all…yuck!!

Lunch orders have become chaos for all the different needs… meat lovers… herbivores… omnivores…vegans… gluten frees…. so the ‘Lunch Board’ has been initiated by Earthship Biotecture’s co-ordinator. A big Thank you to all the wonderful locals making the most scrumptious meals for us!

Once the work day is done… it’s off to the number one hot spot… the Pub for food, drink, and internet. This is the way people get around on the Island… and believe me, with the amount of walking I’ve already done… the most welcome sound can be the distant rumbling of approaching tires … just enough warning for you to stick out your thumb!

  1. fair warning about getting ‘insulation barbs’ off…do NOT try to wash it off with water this only makes it stick worse. You must wait until your body is dry and then broom it off as best you can.

I had the unfortunate experience of having to crawl (yes crawl) through blow in fiberglass on a beam in a roof crawlspace once in bloody shorts and tshirt during a sweaty hot summer day(long story don’t ask) and its one lesson I will NEVER forget. Those were the days of being an electrical apprentice…a long time ago.
