Nicole Chayka, co-author of Fringe Dweller on the Night Shift,& Canadian gal on a journey to live off the Grid with Middle Earth HomeI, Nikki, am Blogging my crazy thoughts and cravings during my on-going Candida Cleanse, in a step by step journal titled The Candida Chronicles, so I can share with you the The Dietary Rules, the Meal Plans and Recipes, the Tips and Facts, and most importantly, the Results. If I can lick this problem, letting ‘Food be my Medicine’ and only using Herbals then you can too! Day 1 of my Candida Journal STARTS HERE.

Take the preliminary Candida Quiz to see what Candida is,and if you have the Symptoms of this nasty Yeast condition affecting both women, and men.

New culinary landscapes.

Embarking on a total and utter 360 degree change in your foodie lifestyle can be a challenge to say the least.  First of course you are dealing with the Cravings.  Full stop, a total drag.  Then there are the other symptoms plaguing you at every turn.

Use your discomfort as motivation for why you are doing this. Focus in on the pain it has caused you in the past, and the pleasure you will receive by conquering it.  I think I’ve been a warrior in some past lives so forgive me the references.  I don’t believe in violence but I will bitch slap the hell out of this Candida if it is the last thing that I do…ahem..I digress.

Attitude will go a long way towards feeling like you are either a victim in this challenge (I can’t have this and I can’t have that…moan) or the victor….(I chose this because…and it is my choice.  What I can have is….)

Find ways to transform your diet that suits your personal tastes.  For some it’s easier to try to find ‘substitutions’ like I did with the crackers.  I can’t have bread but I do like to have my appies from time to time as a quick and tasty standby when I don’t feel like cooking some big thing.  Fresh guacamole and yogurt based dips make for a decent snack to keep around in the fridge.  Another approach that may make more sense to you is to NOT try to find substitutions which may frustrate you.

Embracing a total overhaul and treating it like a grand Culinary Adventure with brand new parameters may work better for you.  Again there is no right or wrong here; only whatever works best for you.
