Cooking ahead has been a Dream.

I hate to cook everyday. I enjoy cooking as an inspirational creative endeavor, but let’s face it…if it’s every day it can start to feel like a Chore. Its during those times when my head is down and I’m ploughing through work that I want my meals pre-packaged and ready to be heated up.

Thank goodness for freezers. There are things we take for granted that our grandparent’s generation remember differently.  I recall my own mother telling me stories about how the Ice Truck would make the rounds to everyone’s street weekly to deliver ice for the ice box.

Apparently the Ice Box was lined with Saw Dust for Insulation and would keep cool for up to a week.  Ice was such a rare commodity that the kids would stand by the truck waiting for the driver to make his delivery so they could snitch a sliver of ice as their treat.  I suppose in a world without refrigeration on a hot summer’s day that an ice cube would be a treat.  Those days seem so foreign to this generation now and yet it is only one degree of separation removed.

Cook ahead. Divide up your meals so it’s a no brainer when you thaw out a single portion for dinner, and take a moment of gratitude for the simple things that often get taken for granted…like refrigeration.

The Morning Ritual of Acidophilus + Herbals is strictly observed.
