Supporting the local meat co-op and farm initiatives.

Yesterday I plunked down $100 bucks in a membership to help support the local Meat Co-Op here in the Cariboo region where I live. They only raise animals WITHOUT Steroids or Antibiotics, and raised mostly on pasture.

I like knowing where my food comes from.  Are you concerned about Food Security?  I sure am.  In fact I’m a little paranoid about it.  Between Monsanto taking over the livelihood of farmers and acting like a Dictatorship of how our food is grown, PLUS how animals are kept, butchered and sent to market…it’s really bloody frightening out there.

Just watch a few documentaries like ‘Food Inc.’ or ‘The Corporation’ to get a feel for what I’m talking about.

Did you know that Cloned Meat is already in your supermarkets and THEY DON’T HAVE TO LABEL IT, so you DON’T know what you’re eating? Do you know that they splice Frog DNA with Potatoes to create a resistant strain of potato that won’t Rot in the ground like the Great Irish Potato Famine?

Now this is just my opinion but I feel VERY strongly about it.  Support your local Organic Farmers.  Eat the 100 Mile diet for the most part where ever you live.

Shipping food half way around the planet does NOT create a better product.  It creates a science fiction ‘Frankenstein Food’aka ‘Frankenfoods’.

As a human animal we’ve lost sight of the fact that Genetically our ancestors ate local and they ate what was in season.  In other words your body isn’t necessarily happy to be digesting fresh Papaya when you live in Alaska.

A sobering lesson brought home to me by a Chinese Herbal Doctor (4th generation) and Acupuncturist who in broken English told me to STOP eating such hot spicy foods of other cultures and return to my roots.

My face was as hot as a volcano with mini unpleasant eruptions coming through my skin.  Two weeks after taking his advice my symptoms abated.  There is something to be said about eating local.
