Nicole Chayka, co-author of Fringe Dweller on the Night Shift,& Canadian gal on a journey to live off the Grid with Middle Earth HomeI, Nikki, am Blogging my crazy thoughts and cravings during my on-going Candida Cleanse, in a step by step journal titled The Candida Chronicles , so I can share with you the The Dietary Rules , the Meal Plans and Recipes, the Tips and Facts, and most importantly, the Results. If I can lick this problem, letting ‘Food be my Medicine’ and only using Herbals then you can too! Day 1 of my Candida Journal STARTS HERE.

Take the preliminary Candida Quiz to see what Candida is,and if you have the Symptoms of this nasty Yeast condition affecting both women, and men.

No mercy. We ain’t playing around here.

Up until now we’ve been avoiding the K.O. punch but we’re going to be merciless here as we explore what really pisses Candida off.

Garlic: My favorite spice. Anti fungal, anti bacterial, anti viral, anti septic and if you eat a lot of it you will need an anti-perspirent or your posse might accuse you of being anti- social. Fresh garlic daily is best but you can also take it in capsules. Avoid the odorless variety as the active ingredients that make it stinky are also the bits that we want.

Caprylic acid: a fatty acid that inhibits fungal growth.

Propolis tincture: something our bee friends make that inhibits mold growing in their hives.

Biotin: which inhibits Candida from converting into its more harmful fungal form (sort of like Spiderman morphing into his evil alter ego Venom)

Grapefruit seed extract: in liquid form it is an anti fungal/anti bacterial that acts against parasites in general. Not a pleasant subject but parasites also thrive in an unbalanced organism. Read a little bit on this subject as often parasites and issues with Candida may be sharing a common host (you). Hanna Kroeger wrote “Parasites-the Enemy Within” –read up on it.

Olive oil: rich in fatty (oleic) acids inhibits the conversion of Candida albicans into it’s fungal form so feel free to use lots & lots in salads and such.

The big guns ..Anti fungal herbs: Golden seal, Garlic, Onions, Ginger, Echinacea, Eucalyptus, Marigold and (hint…think three wise men) Myrrh.

Hamburger Salad + fizzy + brandy shot

p.s. Ok I’m in pain tonight. Futzed in my garden unloading a truck load full of gorgeous soil a friend offered me from their pond. All it takes apparently is 4 hours of labor for my back to go into spazzums so if I have a brandy to take the edge off I’m gonna play that card. I thought I was tougher than that…but apparently not. Is that called ‘introspection and growth’? (hhh)
